Overlooking the Columbia River in the Heights of Vancouver sits the Buena Vista Residence, a unique 1960’s post and beam home. The house is semicircular in plan, with each room radiating out toward the panoramic view from Mt Hood to Hayden Island. Our clients purchased the house from the original owners and the house was untouched - including all of its existing appliances intact. The house was in need of a refresh and some reworking of the spaces to accommodate the new family of 6. We opened up the entry and staircase and moved the laundry room to create a large functional kitchen and office area to act as the hub of the house. The house was taken down to the studs throughout in order to rework the spaces, resulting in an open, airy, light filled home.
