Location: Hollywood, CA
Home: 3,500 sqft. loft in a neoclassical building built in 1928.

Scope: Architectural remodel of two adjoining units, including kitchen remodel, walk-in closet design, design of a second bedroom enclosure, furnishings, custom furniture design, drapery.

Our client owned a one bedroom loft unit in this neoclassical historical building in the heart of Hollywood which we designed in 2020. In 2022, he called on us again after purchasing the adjoining unit. The challenge was to combine the two one bedroom loft units to turn them into a suitable 2-bed/2-baths home-like apartment for him and his young child. In this historical, listed building we had to work carefully and meticulously to maintain character while unifying the space in a harmonious way.

Keeping the kitchen at the heart of the space, we designed an organic shape island to anchor the space with a free-flowing ample kitchen spare framing it. Through a pass-through archway, the space communicates with the dining area and family room, while the formal living space is designed around the baby grand piano, custom painted to match the space.

The whole apartment was designed to feel like a peaceful haven above the bustle of Hollywood blvd, and we kept to a restrained palette of nature inspired tones.
