The homeowner, an on-camera lifestyle host married to an entrepreneur with Latin roots, initially wanted a traditional Spanish style throughout her newly purchased Dana Point home. And since we were near the beach, my design team was excited about bringing in some nautical, laid-back vibes. But what we got: neither of those things. The home told us it wanted something different – a style best described as Bold Bohemian.

As we made decisions together, I was super excited by the client's daring choices. So many times, she picked the boldest wallpaper and the most eye-catching art. When given options for bathroom fixtures with a pop, between almond, limón, and coral – she chose the brightest of the bunch. Then, a final surprise: a maroon motif emerged. The client and I both like maroon just fine, but it became clear it was the house’s favorite color.

In this case, the home itself spoke up and surprised us all. So, my client did not get what she initially asked for, but she was open to the artistic process and in the end, was thrilled with the Bold Bohemian outcome.
