The owners, who cherish the warmth of fire and the soothing ritual of sauna, envisioned a space that blended minimalist Scandinavian design with the practicalities of family life, especially with two young kids in tow.
When Tumu Studio was brought on board for this full renovation, we embraced the challenge of turning the segmented spaces into a warm, open haven that invited both comfort and connection. Our journey began with a focus on creating a modern, airy atmosphere that reflected the family’s heritage while accommodating their everyday needs.
Throughout the home, unique moments and custom millwork breathe life into the spaces. The heart of the home, a stunning walnut kitchen, features a cantilevered center island designed to foster family interaction. This inviting centerpiece encourages cooking together and gathering for meals, transforming everyday moments into cherished memories.
Upstairs, the primary suite was reimagined as a true retreat. The luxurious bathroom now boasts a side-by-side glass steam shower and sauna, offering a daily escape into tranquility. This space allows the family to indulge in the cherished Finnish tradition of sauna bathing, seamlessly integrating relaxation into their busy lives.
