From Margo Nathanson

A modern modular and stick built hybrid family retreat at the base of the Sierra Nevada mountains, just east of South Lake Tahoe. The home is on land purchased, then leased back to a sustainable cattle rancher.

Monolithic Sierra granite walls continue from inside to outside and knotted oak floors and hemlock ceilings add a warm, rustic feeling to the very modern and stoic interiors. The furnishings are textural, organic and artisanal, using natural wood, hand blown glass, and luxurious fabrics. Bespoke and custom designed elements from smaller boutique fabricators are blended with iconic pieces to create an eclectic mix of styles. Nods to Western and cowboy life, organic elements, and luxurious velvets, felt, and alpaca were integrated into the design to create a unique marriage of spaciousness and linearity, while bringing a feeling of coziness and warmth the family wanted for their vacation home.
