Rural, rustic, and rich with real estate prospects, the town of Sedalia is home to some of the most breathtaking real estate and custom-build opportunities in Colorado. Offering sweeping Rocky Mountain views and just a thirty-minute drive into Denver, homeowners are jumping to create their forever homes in this historic sliver of Douglas County.
A one-of-a-kind spec house by Ken Gray Construction in Sedalia, this western modern home’s unique layout required a carefully curated mix of home furnishings and technology to match the geographical demands of the sunny region. No homeowner wants their stunning view obstructed, but the powerful sun rays that come with high elevation cause several concerns for the homeowner. Paula Mansfield at Koebel Development, who was closely involved in the neighborhood’s build, recommended that the clients approached Dusty Gorski, Outside Sales Manager for ListenUp, to advise on which technologies and integrations would complement the home and their busy lifestyles alike. Paula had collaborated with ListenUp on the first house built in the luxury neighborhood, where she watched as ListenUp created the perfect ambiance for the first clients through home automation, lighting, and shading. With a fresh perspective on the strategic evolution of the market but a legacy rooted in quality, ListenUp aligned with legacy brand Hunter Douglas to complete the connected home and design experience for the Albrights.
For the master bedroom’s sliding door, the team recommended Vignette Modern Roman Shades with top-down-bottom-up functionality – a simple, crisp style that complemented the home’s modern design and enhanced privacy by covering the large surface area of the door. For the smaller windows in the master bedroom, matching Vignette Modern Roman Shades offer a seamless look, paired with a small headrail atop the for unobstructed mountain views and a beautiful shade design that can transform light at high noon. For the other bedrooms in the home, the Albrights pivoted their selection to Duette Honeycomb Shades. Customizable by color, fabric, and opacity, the flagship Duette product line offers an energy-efficient design in a wide array of fabrics, pleat sizes, colors and textures, specified to complement each space and stamp out incoming light. For the other living spaces in the home, Designer Roller Shades appealed to the family: a traditional, timeless and simple look that complemented the other elements in the space effortlessly.
Every window treatment in the home was purposefully designed and selected for the specific light filtering and design needs of their space, and the automation platform delivered the same: A Savant smart home system sat at the foundation for the automation, supporting functionality for the home’s network distribution, Lutron lighting controls, home security, and more. Hunter Douglas’ PowerView Automation fit seamlessly into the mix to offer pre-set scenes, adjusting on a schedule based on the sun’s location or at the touch of a button for one-off adjustments. As a result of ListenUp’s meticulous system design approach and product selections, the window treatments interoperated with other light regulation technologies to achieve an elegant, connected experience across the entirety of the home – all from the same keypad.
