A Fun, Family-Friendly Home on Long Island

From Angelica Angeli

A sign that reads ‘fun’ lights up a wall in this quirky but elegant home by Long Island’s Annette Jaffe Interiors. This family-friendly home is playful and bathed in a palette of relaxed blues. The modern kitchen has two islands (one fitted with a linear sink) and a silver-hued tile backsplash that runs the length of the kitchen wall. The deep blue cabinets on this wall have glass doors, so you can see the tiles shimmer in the background. I love how the designer complemented this modern set-up with large rustic pendants. The dramatic lighting is a visual treat in every room.

The living room is all about comfort with large sofas and cozy set-ups like an office space and a dining nook. The blue theme is added in subtle doses, like the blue hue at the back of the counter stools and dining chairs. The room that flaunts the most color is, of course, the playroom — with a deep blue ceiling, two massive blue chairs, and blue upholstery. I’m in awe of how the designer used such bold tones in a room and balanced the color perfectly. The room features a dartboard, a wall-mounted Scrabble board, a table tennis table, a stone fireplace, and promises of a good time.

I enjoyed exploring Annette’s design for this home and found new ideas for using prints, statement decor, and bold colors.
