Located in the most exclusive residential golf club in western Mexico City, 9° is an elegant apartment designed - and built - by Cuaik Comprehensive Design Studio. As our company name states, we have mastered - over 10 years - the creation of comprehensive projects using design and furniture to unify spaces. 9° is filled with neutral tones, natural materials, and textures. The project was photographed by Fernando Marroquín, a very talented and globally recognized photographer.

The approach of 9° is based on what we call the “white canvas” concept, creating a monochrome and light ambiance. Colored furniture pieces and accessories are used to provide a sense of color and contrast, balancing the overall design.

The entry hall to the apartment is a simple and compact space used as a transition to the interior. The idea behind this space is to make the user feel contained and then relieved upon crossing the gate, entering a long hallway that connects the public and private areas of the apartment. At the end of the corridor, a large mirror extends the length of the connecting hallway.

The main dining and living room are the focal point of the project. The family requested an elegant yet cozy space for gatherings with family and friends.

This room was intended to be a minimalistic space that emphasizes simplicity, paying attention to details, such as the baseboard separated from the wall by a reglette, and the discreet outcuts that run from the walls to the ceiling.

The fireplace is made of solid pieces of white marble, extending from the living room to the dining room, and also serving as a fixed piece of furniture.

Furniture selection and styling were paramount for this project, considering the Danish origins of the client.

This, along with the intention of adding touches of color to the space, led Andrea Castro, head of FF&E and Furniture Selection at Cuaik CDS, to choose specific pieces from high-end furniture brands such as Gubi, B&B Italia, CB2, and Maxalto.

Andrea also designed the wooden dining table and the white marble center and side stool, coordinating and overseeing their production with local artisans and craftsmen.

The fabric blinds serve as a shader to natural light that enlightens the apartment granting the space with a peculiar dimmed illumination provided by a natural source. Two large doors lead to the studio and terrace. The covered terrace offers framed views of the woods and golf courses.

Moving into the private area of the apartment, the main corridor serves as a connection between the family room and the main and secondary bedrooms, where we applied the same concepts and ideas explained above.

Particular details can be found in the dressing rooms and bathrooms, such as dimmed lighting, floating sinks, and lighting integrated into carpentry corners. These details have become signature elements found only in projects designed by Cuaik CDS.

9° reflects our philosophy and meticulous methodology when it comes to designing spaces within walls.
