The design goal for the 1940’s Revive was to achieve a natural organic space that would grow with the couple. “We worked within the existing footprint of the home for this remodel to achieve a fresh and organic feel with distinctive elements,” said Jean Hoffmann, ASID, CID and President of Chester-Hoffmann & Associates, Inc. “It was important to keep the palette neutral for easy living and an airy aesthetic.” The chiseled edge on the white countertops and hand-molded backsplash tile bring texture into the space. The center beam in the kitchen was load bearing, so the team added two false beams for visual weight to creatively balance the architecture and transform the space. Crown molding that wraps the perimeter and beams were added for a visual lift to match the existing features in the residence. The arched wood fascia over the serving counter aligns with the arched openings throughout the home to maintain the architectural design. The Cambria surface with chiseled edge profile gives the 8-foot island surface a textural and organic profile. Blown glass pendants provide task light over the island and white glazed turned counter stools are upholstered in a solution dyed organic fabric design to keep with the natural organic atmosphere. The weathered wood grain porcelain plank tile flooring provides low maintenance practicality and livability. To support with the natural and organic ambiance the team brought elements from the outdoors with aged bronze twig shaped chandeliers for the casual dining room to compliment the weathered plank wire brushed dining room table top, petal mirrors and birch-style wall covering. White textured linen chairs complete the table adding elegance to the casual dining space and the plaster-textured art contrasts the deep taupe walls. French doors off the eating area framed by side panels in a taupe and white leaf designed fabric hang from aged bronze metal hardware adding a soft sophistication.
The bathroom needed to flow off of the kitchen and be practical yet attractive for guest use as the only bathroom in the home. The marble floors and polished nickel bath fixtures keeps the bathroom feeling refined. A recessed linen closet and a custom designed vanity with a Cambria counter were added to maximize storage. The white molded subway tile and white painted woodwork compliments the hand-glazed wallcovering adding texture to the space.
The gender-neutral nursery is a peaceful and soothing space for baby featuring a wall covering with a ribbon pin board pattern in grey and white to add plenty of visual interest for young eyes. The neutral pallet allows for the toys and books to be the pop of color. The rocking chair has a treated white fabric for easy cleaning and the custom glazed painted chest doubles as a changing table due to the removable tray.
