When Scott and Angela Damman bought an 1880s hacienda near Mérida, Mexico, in 2011, they thought they’d spend a year with their two kids exploring the culture and learning the language before returning to Colorado. Instead, the family fell in love with rural Mexico, and the couple, looking for a way to stay, built a design business rooted in the fiber production and weaving traditions of the Yucatán.
The basement’s kitchenette was moved to a more central location and updated with contemporary colors and finishes. Custom cabinetry was painted in Benjamin Moore’s Spiced Apple Cider to add some brightness to a space that leans on the dark side. Daltile’s Keystones tile in Artic White was also used on the walls in the nearby bathroom.
