Striking Montreal Renovations

Quebec's largest city and its environs offers these beautiful examples of old buildings reborn. Given that Montreal was founded in 1642, we couldn't be more impressed that it continues to reinvent itself!

The entire flat features in-floor heating underneath pre-oiled engineered oak planks manufactured locally by Bois Ditton. Like most of the apartment's built-ins, the heat source was designed to be unobtrusive but effective.

In the kitchen, glossy white MDF and quartz countertops allow for maximum light reflection, as do the white walls and ceilings. The stools are from Zone Maison.

Another unusual aspect to the design was the inclusion of walnut panels on the ceiling, which complemented those on the floor and stairs. “[The contractor] wanted to do it for the sake of having the same material to go through the whole concept,” said Blouin.
