The kitchen faucet is by Pfister.

In the kitchen, recycled PET cabinetry from IKEA and Corian countertops play to the upcycling element of LOT-EK's ethos. A Swell Wide pendant by Pablo Pardo illuminates a custom dining table by From the Source and the surrounding Redsmith dining chairs from Anthropologie.

Chairs by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec for Hay join a table by Ethimo on the deck off the kitchen, which offers views of the hills to the north.

The centrally located stair from the ground floor to the roof deck is partially screened by leftover cedar planks from the exterior. A skylight above brings in plentiful natural light.

To improve flow, Halsey and Levitt Halsey moved and modernized steps connecting the family room to the rest of the home.

The entryway's stairs are surrounded by a screen that helps diffuse sunlight.

The exterior massing was the first thing the couple nailed down while details like the stairs took a bit longer. "The challenge is that you realize there’s an infinite amount of detail you can drill down into," says John.
