The nave contains the living and studio space. Taking full advantage of the height and scale of the original structure, the main area allows for adaptation over the lifetime of the building.

The welcoming, bright entry flows directly into the spacious, open-plan living/dining area.

A view from the main entrance, looking toward the kitchen, reveals part of the public space of the house. Blans bought the vintage glass display case from a retailer. Behind it, the early 20th-century Amsterdam school dining table, formerly her grandmother's, has been carefully restored. The stairs lead to the builder's lift, kitchen, and the couple's private living and work area.

Contemplation I rug by Yasmina Benazzou for Tai Ping, price upon request. Celebrating abstract art, the wool-and-flax carpet’s golden gradient mimics the effect of diluted paint spilled on paper.
