The courtyard lets the reimagined addition live as a "modernist ruin," with vines encouraged to grow and further blur the boundary between inside and out. The outdoor table and chairs are by Tait.
The garage door was replaced with a new entry to the building, featuring a custom steel canopy over the front door. The door is painted Benjamin Moore Flamingo's Dream to better contrast with the black-stained, tight-knot vertical cedar siding.
The slate floors continue seamlessly to an outdoor dining and living area outside of the kitchen.
The fire pit is made of board-formed concrete with Cor-Ten weep holes for drainage.
