The entry has a cubby for Roberta’s shoes and a branch-shaped grab bar made of bronze by British designer Phillip Watts.

Sleek storage lockers at the entry accommodate all of the family members. The bench is made from wood salvaged during the remodel.

The master bedroom, which opens to the rear garden, is outfitted with a pull-out rack and sliding panels that can separate the room into two spaces. The windows are from Dixieline Lumber & Home Centers.

The couple’s cat, Dmitri, has a custom-carved portal to his litter box in the bathroom. “The cabin is very clean,” Emily says, “aside from the Dmitri fluff everywhere.”

With space for shoes (the pair don’t wear any in the home), Rollerblading gear, umbrellas, and more, the deep entrance closet helps the couple maintain their minimalist interior. A hanging rod, made by Specialty Lighting, has an integrated light that turns on when the 200-pound door is opened. specialtylighting.com
