LIOHI - Art on the floor

In the Coral Room, on the top floor of the tower, the hues range from dusty pink to burgundy.

Mitanidis and team insulated the interior extensively to maximize the heat gain and create an energy-efficient building that could feel cozy even through a Toronto winter. Heated concrete floors warm things up even further.

The third floor features a bespoke timber joinery unit that divides the dining and living spaces and contains a bathroom and storage.

Kari’s colorful living room features a handful of her paintings, a splatter-painted sofa, midecentury wall sconces, and curved wooden coffee table. The palette was informed by her art and vice versa.

“This wasn’t a reconstruction, but a major renovation,” says Dora. “The bones were there.”

The dining area pendant is a vintage Louis Poulsen piece, and the dining table is from HAY. The dining chairs are a mix of antique wood chairs, a Thonet, and an Eames DCM chair. The lounge chair is a mid-century Norwegian piece from Skarbos.
