Interior designer Merrill Lyons plays with her son in the Brooklyn home she renovated with her husband, Charles Brill, a lighting designer and cofounder of New York–based company Rich Brilliant Willing (RBW). The couple’s design sensibility is marked by a warm mix of historic periods and styles, punctuated with pieces by RBW, including the circular brass Cinema chandelier that hangs in the living room. The leather sofa and teak credenza are vintage; the 1960s rosewood Genius armchair by Danish designer Illum Wikkelso was reupholstered with fabric sourced from an outlet.

The Frame Pendant Light from Iacoli & McAllister is a simple light that celebrates the source of illumination—a simple white light bulb. The bulb is encased in a steel frame that has been plated in copper, creating a shiny finish on the geometric pendant light. It can be used on its own, or grouped with other Frame Pendants (as pictured) to create a graphic display.

Julie Lansom weaves different hues of cotton thread around a wood frame to fashion her intricate Sputnik lights.

The ever-changing daylight, plus the use of curtains and lighting options, means that Ahlgren and Lökaas enjoy a variety of different atmospheres.
