Adam Levy sits in the kitchen of his rented midtown apartment. Rodriguez furnished the apartment with a mixture of vintage pieces, like Adam’s dining chairs, with newer pieces, like the plant stand from West Elm.

Wittman calls the couple a Jack and Jill of all trades due to their wide-ranging hobbies. In the workshop, there’s a glass-art studio and woodshop connected by a room for model making and storing collections.

The powder room features a vibrant floral wallpaper that can also be found in Fluevog stores.

A pattern from Juju Papers gives the walls of the powder room a playful character.

The entry has a custom cubby for shoes that pulls out to reveal storage concealed under the stair. “The wood is northern white oak,” says Caroline. “I wanted a rustic grade, for character. Since we don’t have a lot of stuff, or a lot of space, the materials have to speak.” The sconce is by Allied Maker.

Shades of calming blue tile line the bathroom walls, paired with plywood cabinetry treated with linseed oil.

The living room has a gray rug by Tai Ping Carpets, rust-colored B&B Italia sofas, a pendant by David Weeks, and a frieze of butterflies by artist Kirk Maxon inspired by birds that flutter in the treetops outside Roberta’s balcony. Blinds, pocketed in the soffit above the doors, come down automatically when the sun is too bright.

The entrance hall is sandwiched between two enormous glazed panels, offering immediate views through the home to embrace views of the lush wetlands that surround the property. The clerestory windows that wrap around the top of the main living area peek over the top of the darker form, offering a hint of what’s to come.

Turkel Design built and outfitted this multi-generational home for Canadian clients. They start the process with a detailed questionnaire, and then hone in on the details.

The home’s eaves—over eight feet long—allow the garden doors to be kept fully open without rain blowing inside, barring a severe storm. The deep eaves also provide solar protection to the interior.

The kitchen island responds to the concrete walls and floor, while black pendant lights punctuate the otherwise light palette.
