The door in the laundry room is the Marvin Elevate Swinging French Door, and was initially designed as a walkway out into a dog run. “We love dogs and we take into consideration most of our clients have dogs,” Becky says. “Typically, laundry rooms can be dark with no windows, no doors. It was an opportunity for us to bring some natural light into that space.

The only transitional area in the home is this small hallway, which doubles as storage and laundry room. The primary suite is at the end, and the stairs lead to a loft for the children.

The entry hall is another snapshot of design experimentation with wood built-ins, open cubbies, and simple brass hooks.

Similarly, a laundry closet has double millwork doors that read as full height, floor-to-ceiling panels when closed. When open, though a room, the interior reads as another cabinet with pre-finished maple built-ins, including the one special request from the owners a pull-out ironing board drawer.

Behind the large sliding pivot panels lies a hidden laundry—one of Yuan’s favorite features. "I love it because it functions as a large laundry space when I need it, but the sliding pivot doors allows me to hide it all away when we have visitors over," says Yuan.
