Garden on Eden
This home’s design direction originated from the fundamental concept that the dwelling should be a portal to nature and sit quietly within its natural surroundings. Layered upon this tenet was the client's unique desire for windows to be their artwork and for the home to gradually reveal itself to its guests. These ideas led us to craft a home that focuses outward to the natural environment and captures daylight extensively. As a result, walking through the home feels similar to exploring a new natural environment.
While designing the home, the Fibonacci sequence was integrated into pathway layouts, radii references, and golden rectangle window proportions. These subtle geometric references further link the home to the surrounding natural order.
Due to the home’s biophilic design and integration of mathematical concepts, it was apparent that a modern style was the only logical choice. Additionally, there is a deliberate aversion to color throughout the built form of the home, as we chose to draw attention to the surrounding natural beauty. For example, the home’s various shades of warm gray provide the backdrop to the more vibrant colors seen outside of the expansive windows.
