Furniture Design Series: The Dining Table
In this second installment of our design series focused on tables, we take at look at the dining table. The dining table sets the stage for family gatherings, dinner parties, and the general merriment that comes from hosting and entertaining in your home. Here, we highlight 10 gorgeous picks for dining in style. Take a look at our past installment, The Kitchen Table and stay tuned for the next episode: The Coffee Table.
Danish designer Søren Rose is known for his modern take on a classic material: marble. And though this particular dining table is made from wood, Rose reclaimed the planks from none other than a marble factory. The multi-colored blocks in the surface are Corian, used to fill in gas and imperfections in the tabletop.
For outdoor entertaining with a little extra detail, Nola's powder-coated and laser-cut Areal dining table boasts a pattern inspired by a bird's eye view of topography. Though attractive in and of itself, the shadows cast by the perforations in the surface add a dappled pattern to the surrounding area for an ever-changing decorative effect.
Another great outdoor dining setup, the Garbo collection from Viesso comes with either an FSC-Certified recycled teak top or three different colors of glass (shown in black). The seating has either all weather chairs or stools, both available in a variety of colors. A classic design with modern materials.
