These five families came together to create homes that work for the way they live, and, in the process, proved blood is thicker than concrete.
The Danish teak dining set belonged to Susan's sister-in-law.
The outbuilding serves as a studio, a guest house, and a playroom. A Murphy bed sourced from Craigslist was customized with a birch surround to give it a built-in appearance.
Vintage midcentury chairs, found at a flea market, adorn the bedroom. The artwork on the left, made of nails and wood, is by Mass Studio's Sanam Salek.
The exposed ceiling beams and inserted steel framing system are visible in the lower level, where Lange and Dixon relax with their son Paul.
