Noho Architecture maximized space and natural light to revamp this cramped dwelling on a 14-foot-wide lot in Sydney.

Side Angle Side led the renovation of this 2,350-square-foot home for Steph Steele, the owner of Austin’s Tiny Grocer stores, and her wife, Margaret Tucker, who works as a family law attorney.

On the entrance deck, a hand-crafted wooden couple welcomes visitors. The U-shaped deck surrounds the entire lower level.

McCuen’s successful proposal included a 2,400-square-foot, three-bedroom residence with attached garage on the main floor, completed in 2018. Its large glass openings overlook a private, enclosed courtyard.

Lush greenery envelops the property, from the outdoor dining area at Tillies (pictured) to the Garden Club, a 60,000-square-foot labyrinth of wellness treatment rooms, hot and cold plunge pools, indoor and outdoor workout facilities, and a marble-clad hammam.

In the evening, the house looks like a lantern. Originally, the homeowners planned to paint the house a light color. “Bassel encouraged us to go bold,” says Ming. “The contrast at night is more intense.” The exterior is painted in Calico Blue from Benjamin Moore, which is a dark green.
