The gate, opening onto the entry courtyard, serves as the pavilion's front door.

The entrance is located to the side of the house. The recessed Douglas fir front door was built by Austin’s Honea Woodworks. The roof is Galvalume standing-seam metal.

The house that Kem Studio designed for Sarah Magill on a narrow lot in Kansas City has a steel facade with reclaimed cypress cladding near the entrance. The entire structure sits atop a steel foundation set on concrete piers that were driven into solid stone.

A massive, custom cedar door was installed at the main entry along with a glazed sidelight.

Mount Pleasant Modern: Front Entry Interior

The entry was ready for an overhaul. Says Horner, "When we first walked up to the house we knew we had to change the front door. It had such a perfect layout for a pivot door—it became our main focus." A solid panel door and sidelight were replaced with a large, glass pivoting door, bringing in much-needed light to the entry.
