Porcelain tile by Urban Concrete is used throughout the home. Lighting fixtures by LBL Lighting illuminate wallpaper from wallpapered.com that depicts a map of the Puget Sound.
On the first level, the living room and dining room connect to a southeast-facing terrace, which catches the morning and midday sun. A pair of larch sliding doors join the two rooms. Two Marcel Breuer Wassily chairs from Knoll flank the rug, from Room & Board, and Portland Willamette Ovation II fireplace.
A new pantry wall in a teak wood veneer supplies all-but-invisible cabinet space with the help of touch-latch door hardware. Perched atop the existing terrazzo flooring, the underbelly of the kitchen's central island, painted with Benjamin Moore paint in the Midsummer Night shade, is visible beneath the reclaimed American elm countertop.
Carly and Brad rearranged the former entry closet area to form a small vestibule that would block the direct view to the kitchen upon arrival. Instead of covering it with wallpaper, they created a custom stencil and painted it themselves on Cristmas Eve. They used the colors that are used throughout the house, while the triangles take cues from the triangles that exist on the original door.
