Dragonfly Glade

A modest (1789 sq.ft.) retirement home featuring passive solar design, due South orientation, polished concrete floors, and a narrow lap pool with solar collectors for extended seasonal use. Located on the Eastern Shore of Virginia and designed by owner/architect, Leon Parham, R.A., NCARB, this dwelling is sited on a 12 acre densely wooded lot. Approximately 3 acres were cleared to allow the maximum of unimpeded sunlight. The deep overhangs protect from the hot summer sun and allow the low winter sun in to keep the house temperate. Completed in July 2015, landscaping continues to be an ongoing work in progress. Some photos are during construction.
