A new entry was created with a door set at a slightly lower elevation than the original.

The exterior walls on the first floor of Virginia House by 2712 / Asociados are painted in a dark, neutral color that contrasts with the bright illuminated interiors and sunny yellow front door.

The entrance opens into a light-filled hall, with a Marcel Wanders chandelier and a Luna console table by Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance.

The new sliding door is by Jeld-Wen, while the rug was found at a local shop called Portia’s Barn. The floors are white oak.

Updated siding and new windows create a cohesive exterior look.

The entrance is located to the side of the house. The recessed Douglas fir front door was built by Austin’s Honea Woodworks. The roof is Galvalume standing-seam metal.

Pascal poses on the threshold of the living room, which can be closed off with a translucent pocket door, yet still take advantage of the light that pours in from all sides.

The height of oversized doors can be offset or accentuated with long hardware.

An elongated escutcheon, long handle pull, and thumb-operated latch give this exterior handleset a striking, modern style.

The kitchen is visually removed from the dining room thanks to fluted glass partitions.

The house was fully assembled in just 32 working days.
