Lisbon firm Aurora Arquitectos and local studio FURO collaborated on the renovation of an 18th-century structure in Vila Real de Santo António, a city in Portugal’s southern Algarve region.

The bathroom vanity, with a countertop made of Pacifica millennial pink retro mix terrazzo from Concrete Collaborative, was one of the most complex parts of the project. “Curved forms are a lot of work,” Ash says. The designer’s inspiration for the curved motif and color palette came from an antique stained glass window.

Hexagonal tiles in the ADU bathroom have patterns borrowed from mid-century modern design.

The en suite bathroom of the main bedroom retains the impeccable quality of old and new, with its brass fittings a bright colored accent tiles.

The upstairs bathroom features a shower nook with a skylight. “You can look out and see palm trees,” Kuo says.
