A simple shed-like form disguises a taste for the contemporary and detailed craftsmanship.

“The idea was to create this total openness and informality and almost undomesticated domestic space,” says Leven. The concrete is textured by its forms on the outside but smooth where it cuts into the building—“almost as though you sliced into it with a knife,” adds the designer.

What’s Mattias’ favorite feature? The custom pull-up bar, of course. “I guess it’s the little personal details that make each pod’s design reflect the character of their owners,” says Home.

The annex has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a separate living room, and a small kitchen.

The ground floor of the main building, with its low ceiling height of only just over seven feet, was designed to house the cattle and other animals. Now, two newly built bedrooms can be found in the former cowshed.

The back deck features an outdoor shower designed by Scott. Made of stainless steel and brass components, it uses a garden watering nozzle for the shower and foot-wash heads.

A breezeway complete with swings connects the front and back decks. “We knew we wanted a covered entry, but we left it open to create a larger outdoor space,” says Scott, who admits to occasionally using the swings himself. Mud guards are built into the Kebony decking to keep dirt from being tracked inside. The teak chairs are by Skagerak.
