Art, Architecture, and "Melrose Place" Collide in This Ultra-Meta Exhibition
In a set designed by LOT-EK, "TOTAL PROOF: The GALA Committee 1995-1997" examines the art world's conceptual engagement with TV's "Melrose Place"—a project by Mel Chin's GALA Committee that ended up at Museum of Contemporary Art Los Angeles and on primetime TV. The exhibition run through November 27, 2016, at Red Bull Studios. redbullstudiosnewyork.com
A recreation of the set of Jane's Boutique with pieces of art by the GALA Committee. In order to get their art seen by as many people as possible, the group contacted the producers of "Melrose Place" and offered their work for free.

The iconic Shooter's Bar & Grill set from "Melrose Place" with interventions by the GALA Committee including liquor bottles that tell the story of alcohol in America. In the fourth and fifth seasons of the show, the artists' collective created artwork as props for the show, often containing hidden political messages.

The bedroom of Peter Burns from the "Melrose Place" is filled with pieces by The GALA Committee. The mobile is a reference to a television remote control, while the sheets are printed with images condoms in a message about safe sex.
