We used GridFree solar panels, which provides enough energy to run a small fridge, the lights throughout and to charge a phone.
The cabin can house two adults easily, with a mezzanine for a third adult or two small children.
The full size shower room incorporates a Bambaloo composting toilet, which ultimately means extremely minimal waste and use of energy which was one of the main goals for this cabin in particular.
The main bedroom window faces down through the valley, looking West.
A Roaring Meg wood burner is not only the centrepice of the cabin visually, but also produces exceptional heat ideal for those blustery winter months.
Ply has been used throughout the cabin to add a sense of warmth, which is also reminiscent of the traditional kiwi trampers huts.
The cabin is orientated north to ensure the solar panels soak up as much light as possible during summer and those low lying sun winter months.
