A charming balcony surrounded by lush foliage inspired the dramatic transformation of this apartment in the urban core of Tel Aviv, Israel.

Dana Broza of Danka Design Studio was enchanted when she found this alluring bit of green in Tel Aviv's concrete jungle. Through unconventional space planning and creative design solutions, the designer completely transformed an outdated and dark midcentury apartment into a colorful and bright "Urban Jungle."

The owners, a young student couple, desired a comfortable home for cooking and hosting with an open living area. Due to the small space, the location of supporting walls, and the number of exterior walls, Broza had to find creative ways to allow natural light to flow between the spaces, while creating an open feel.

The newly remodeled interiors are colorful and filled with daylight. Customized carpentry maximizes storage space and accommodates the young couple's needs. The urban jungle theme carries through the apartment with a palette of grayish green and pink. Combined with natural materials, animal print rugs, and accessories, the unique theme extends from the blooming green balcony to the front door.

By rethinking the original layout and slightly moving spaces around, Broza immensely improved the functionality of this quaint apartment. What was once old-fashioned is now a stylish dream dwelling for a young couple.
