Retired Vermont-Lovers Build a Forever Home Inspired by Vintage Ski Cabins
The area gets 100 inches of snow per year, so architect David R. MacLean drew up a design with steeply pitched roofs and crystalline skylights that echo the cupolas on traditional barns.

It all started with the view. Twelve years ago, Don Jones and his wife, Nancy, were biking in Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom when it struck Don that the state might be a nice place to live. With successful careers behind them and their two sons out of the house, the Boston-based Joneses were ready to start the next chapter of their lives.
