Rich materials and finishes along with radiant-heated stone floors throughout. The house is 6,500 square feet and has an open plan, that includes six bedrooms, six-and-a-half baths, an office, and a finished lower level. The main floor has a series of sliding glass doors that opens the living area up to a sunken patio. Incredibly large and open yard with a rolling lawn, 20-by-60-foot pool, and beautiful landscaping. A stylish Amagansett retreat with privacy and plenty of space for entertaining."

Scott Glass, cofounder of New York firm Guerin Glass Architects, designed this peaceful Hamptons home as a family retreat for himself and his wife, former MSNBC host JJ Ramberg, in Amagansett on Long Island.

A hinoki cypress grows in the courtyard at the main entrance to the residence, which comprises three volumes clad in glass and wood—either new cedar or reclaimed cypress.

On the entry level, a full-height fireplace creates a visual divide between the dining area and living room, both furnished primarily with midcentury finds.

The open kitchen features white oak cabinetry complemented by quartzite countertops and backsplash. Radiant-heated bluestone floors span throughout most of the residence.

A series of sliding glass doors connect the primary living areas to a sunken concrete patio.

On the other side of the entry foyer, a set of steps leads to a wing with the four family bedrooms.

A two-story volume that houses the guest rooms includes a den and children’s bedroom on its ground floor.

On the second level, a principal guest suite has its own terrace that overlooks the green roof crowning the family bedroom wing.

The guest suite bath includes a freestanding tub positioned beneath a four-foot square skylight.

Under the primary living areas, a below-grade recreation room boasts a 10-foot ceiling and polished concrete floors.

The sunken patio offers multiple partially covered gathering areas surrounded by the grass lawn.

Mature oak trees shade the lounge area near the expansive swimming pool.

The green roofs that top two of the home’s volumes are planted with no-maintenance grass.

248 Town Lane in Amagansett, New York, is currently listed for seasonal rental (between July 1 and September 5, 2022) by Beth Felsen of Sotheby’s International Realty – East Hampton Brokerage.
