The design uses natural materials and upcycled elements to reduce its environmental impact.

“We love the English walnut finish,” says Emma. “We had samples out where we wanted to place the TimberTech and watched it throughout the day to decide on a color.”
The realistic grain pattern of TimberTech provides a contrasting warmth to the concrete and stone elements of the pool deck. “We chose it because it looks like something you’d see at a resort,” says Peter.
TimberTech decking is resistant to moisture, fading, and heat absorption, making it ideal for poolsides. It’s also eminently simple to clean: “It’s very practical for entertaining,” says Peter.
Direct sunlight pounding down on traditional wood decks can cause previously absorbed water to evaporate quickly, making the boards crack and splinter, which is not only a maintenance headache, but also a worry for bare feet. For the Magalhaeses, who love gathering friends and family in the backyard, choosing a material that would be safe for kids to run around on was top of mind.
The Fish Camp acts as the couple’s forest getaway, just a quarter mile from their main house.
