“The color Falu-red, or Falu Rödfärg, is used for houses all over Sweden,” says Pineus. “It’s such a strong color, but I think it works.” Each of the house’s protruding boxes feature pine slats painted in a silver tar, which contrasts the larch of the interior and offers a sturdy defense to the ocean air.
The patio is accessed from the master bedroom via a large pivot door. The bed and mirror are from Crate and Barrel; the pendant is from Droog. The couple made the wall sconces themselves.
The area includes a Wally planter from Woolly Pocket near the custom steel-and-glass doors.
The dining room looks out at the front courtyard. Working with the original openings, Nossiter set the doors back from the external wall line.
