A geometric wood accent wall lies across from the main entry wall and runs alongside the stairs.
The master bathroom is the only spot in the home that features actual hardware. Simon went with a rich blue-green tone for the double vanity and Colton wall sconces from Y Lighting.
An ironing board folds out from the side of a built-in bookcase. The pillow is custom-made from vintage Hudson Bay Company blankets.
Kitchen
Interior designer Peter Fehrentz’s pied-à-terre in Berlin has a small kitchen with rosy pink kitchen cabinets that fit right in with the rest of the apartment’s chic and eclectic décor.
Sommer and Costello combined Derengge Two-Handle Faucets in matte black with the Lucent Light Shop Vortice Sconce over CB2 mirrors.
"We designed a fully-custom, expanded chef’s kitchen featuring European-style cabinets, a large island with waterfall countertops, and hardwood floors," say Sommer and Costello. The light and bright kitchen has cabinetry by Gilbert Sojo, quartz counters, and a streamlined black GE range hood that syncs with the black finger pulls from Cosmas.
For this Eichler remodel, the objective was to respect the original bones with more thoughtful updates than what had come before. "Our goal was to design a beautiful mix of finishes that respected the timeless design intention of Eichler homes," say Sommer and Costello. "Rather than focus purely on historical renovation, we wanted to update the finishes and layout to ensure it lives on for the next generation."
In the dining room, the BAZZ Loft matte black pendant light is suspended over the Shoreditch dining table from CB2 and Nomad chairs from Industry West. The Gold Rush Poster is by Jessica Rae Sommer.
The front façade received fresh white paint and new landscaping. The blue door was painted "Flaming Torch" from Behr, a vibrant orange.
The living room pairs neutrals with pops of color—and plenty of pillows and plants.

Architect George Bradley and his husband, Eddie Baba, renovated a 1941 house in San Francisco. Tiles from Heath Ceramics surround the Ortal Clear 130LS fireplace. The white ceramic logs are by Klein Reid (but of course can be replaced with real firewood!), and the firewood storage continues the same dark horizontal band that contrasts with the light-colored fireplace cladding.
The games room is located on the lower level. The family plays board games on the table flanked by Eames chairs.
As the name implies, the exterior of Best Practice's Big Mouth House resembles an open-mouthed face with its powder pink framing against the black metal facade.
On the first floor, a tiled entrance foyer with storage space for a few jackets and about six pairs of shoes flows towards a master bedroom with a walk-in closet.
Nelson De Coninck's space is an airy, art-filled sanctuary.
A Cold Picnic rug and Coil + Drift mirror warm up a restored fireplace relocated from the basement.
Hatchet Design Build fabricated missing components to complete the casework around a bay window.

The master bathroom offers a soaking tub and a modern vanity. A wall of frosted glass doors bring natural light into the space while also providing access to the hallway.
The modern kitchen occupies a nook opposite the dining room and entryway. The space features a deeply linear layout with four square windows centered above the sink.
Kitchen appliances include a SMEG refrigerator, Bertazzoni Range Oven, and Bosch Dishwasher. The counters are honed white quartz, and the pendant over the island is the Cirrus Float by Edge Lighting.
The porcelain plank flooring is continuous throughout, with zero-step thresholds at doors and showers.

The new kitchen has much more elbow room and an eat-in bar clad in graphic, black-and-white tile. Carrera marble tile laid in a herringbone pattern covers the backsplash, while the counters are honed marble, at the back, and walnut, at the island.
Barker mixed inexpensive subway tiles with an expensive marble slab in the master bathroom. The mix of high and low pieces defines the style of this home.
“We chose a gray veined marble (Vermont Royal Danby, from ABC Worldwide) for the kitchen counter,” Barker says. “We found bleached walnut floors from Madera to tie the parlor floor together.”
"The tub was an important element for the client, so we designed the teak wall and floor element to elevate that tub area since there was not enough space to completely separate it from the rest of the bathroom," said Maggio.
A new pantry with a frosted glass door, to the left of the fridge, now keeps clutter out of sight. The island is painted in Sherwin Williams "Iron Ore."
In an effort to keep costs within budget without sacrificing looks, the fully gutted and renovated kitchen features IKEA cabinetry framework with shaker-style fronts by Semihandmade. The cabinets were painted Farrow & Ball Pigeon.
