Every house is an open system of flows: energy, material, and information. The water that flows from a typical household faucet often travels thousands of miles from its original source, scrubbed clean, chlorinated, and fluoridated, before it falls into your glass. This is a staggering achievement, yet we hardly give it a second thought. Our built environment is plugged into a vast web of similar systems we know almost nothing about. We see this as an opportunity for architectural intervention and technological exploration.
