“The floor is brought closer to the ground level. This makes the line of sight closer to that of the outside, creating a conscious connection with the outdoors,” said Sudo. This also helps create a higher ceiling level and reduce cost.

The kitchen-cum-dining area is an open space that facilitates gatherings, working from home and lets people behind the counters communicate with others outside easily.
The owner appreciates the vantage. “The bathroom has a window to the south. It gives the feeling of an open-air bath with a view of sky and fields. When I look at the mirror, the view is reflected in it.”
Surrounding the house are the homes of the owner's parents and grandparents, as well as buildings used for farming.
The backyard features a new fence and landscaping done by Klara. She put in new stones, planted vines, and purchased trees.
Klara loved the apartment outdoor space—a rare find in Manhattan—despite the fact that it needed work.
By shifting the staircase the architects created a hidden library nook. Hidden amongst Klara’s collection of books it’s her favorite part of the apartment.
The living room includes two small paintings by Michel Erussard, a large painting by George Mullen, artglass by Venini, and a vintage chair.
A large wood relief artwork by Edwin Jefferey overlooks the new catwalk bridge. Klara first saw Jeffrey’s work in Folk Art magazined before purchasing the piece from a gallery in 2023.
