Large, meticulously landscaped courtyard
Before the addition of the approximately 750-square-foot pool (and its 65-square-foot hot tub), the lot was a scramble of structures: the house in one corner and the guesthouse and the office each occupying another.
Cassidy used the pool as an anchor for an overarching backyard master plan that pulled the parts together.
The dining room leads onto a terrace with a built-in concrete table and barbecue that are original to Raman and Schaffrath’s design. A pair of Hardoy butterfly chairs from Knoll are positioned by the pond.
A sculptural picnic table by artist Michael Beitz flows over the fence like a waterfall.

Six slightly sunken decks reminiscent of cozy conversation pits have form common outdoor space.
By carefully crafting both indoor and outdoor spaces, the architects managed to draw the scenic landscape inward while extending the outdoor living experience. Social areas like the living, dining, kitchen, bar, den, outdoor deck, fire pit and barbecue area are located on the second level.
