Landscape designer Vickie Cardaro used native grasses and plantings near the swimming pool (opposite). Cushions upholstered in Sunbrella fabric rest atop a Trex deck. The western red cedar ceiling extends through the deep eaves and covered seating area.
Clad in white HardiePlank siding, the duplex was designed to mimic the industrial look of the shipping container extensions.
The communal kitchen rotates around a farm table where guests can relax while chefs prepare meals. Ett Hem only uses fresh, local ingredients that change according to the season. Each morning, the staff chooses what the meals will be and they leave pastries, champagne, wine, and other treats for guests to grab throughout the day.
In a family’s pint-size lake retreat in Austin, Texas, ipe siding and decking meet concrete floors and steeland-glass windows. Stained cyprus was used for the ceiling and soffit.
