In the kitchen, birch cabinets painted in a bright white are topped with solid ash countertops.
After spending an adventurous summer traveling in a van with their dog, Richmond, Virginia–based couple Grace Kuhn and David Phinney wanted to take their van life adventures to the next level with an Airstream trailer.
Georgia, Floorplan
When traveling couple Nate and Taylor Lavender were dating and living in Florida, they purchased a 34-foot, 1992 Airstream, which they renovated and affectionately named Augustine the Airstream (after the city of St. Augustine, Florida, where they found her on Craigslist).
The bathroom walls were painted a rich blue-green to liven up the small space.
Bedroom
The couple outfitted the kitchen with stainless steel counters and cabinetry and shelving made from Douglas fir sawmill offcuts.
The interior of the Airstream was reimagined using reclaimed materials. The flooring is made of old-growth Douglas fir, and the ceiling features yellow cedar sawmill offcuts. Ryan crafted the built-in sofa using more cedar sawmill offcuts, while Catherine sewed the drapery and the upholstery, using fabric she collected from various thrift shops and IKEA.
Wilson fixed a rotten sub floor and pulled out wet insulation to revamp the interior into a rental space. Clients can adapt the decor of the lounge to their needs, or choose one of the curated looks available. This front area can seat fifteen people.
The interior includes a blue tooth/CD/iPod-receiver sound system, AC, and mini fridge.
White walls and a motif of wood accents create a stylish, neutral setting.
"Ryan likes navy, so we decided to copy that theme throughout and bring in some warm tones to complement the honey-colored wood countertops," Armstrong says. "I always love to tie in all of the colors in a space with an area rug. I found the perfect old-world-feel traditional rug with some great navy and gold tones to tie it all together."
The living spaces and back bedroom feature Kahrs’ Oak Johan wood flooring.
The bathroom walls are clad in whitewashed cedar.
In the wet bath, a teak bench and flooring add warmth to the all-white space.
The bathroom and the kitchen feature Glacier White Corian countertops.
