Astula is the latin root word of Atelier, meaning workshop or studio, especially for an artist or designer. Astula literally translates to plank or splinter of wood, and denotes Origination.

We're an established, award-winning photography studio, and emerging workshop based in Denver, Colorado. Our focus is on collaborative development of creative new ideas for imagery, products and art. That and we want to have a good time...

Raul J Garcia

Founder and Photographer

Kyra Fellows, Administrative Assistant (& Sanity Keeper to Raul)

Since graduating from the ART Institute of Colorado with her B.A. in Fashion Retail Management, Kyra has found herself immersed in the creative world. You can usually find her writing poetry in cafes and putting the finishing touches on two poetry books. In her spare time she enjoys being around friends and family, reading, going out to movies, styling for photoshoots and on occasion bettering her swing dancing skills at the Mercury Café.

Joe Schafer, Studio Assistant

Born and raised in Chicago, Joe moved to Denver after graduating from Marquette University to continue pursuing his interests in video production and editing. When he’s not working at Astula, you can find him in the mountains finding his inner peace on a hike or a camping trip. His other interests include reading, playing guitar, and watching YouTube videos of dangerous animals.

Tom Visocchi, Art Director

With Tom's many years of experience in the editorial world, I have the fortune of having him on our team when on location. As my creative collaborator and talented stylist, his expertise, professionalism and great personality are evident in every assignment we've had together. Tom is an active Art Director, with roles ranging from managing production of photo shoots and talent, to concept, design and creative direction for publications and photographers.
