Ali first discovered her love of design when she realized that the simple enamel bowl her mom used to make bread dough or serve salad was actually created by Finnish design icon Kaj Franck. She's drawn to pieces that contrast modern and traditional details, such as a clean-lined console with cabriole legs. A longtime New Yorker, Ali recently moved to Philadelphia, where she and her husband live in a former rare bookstore that was built in the 1890s. When she isn't writing about contemporary design, Ali can be found cooking, training in Muay Thai, and trying to convince her husband that what their new living room really needs is an antique canoe.
