Full Bloom The white Vico Magistretti dining table is a focal point when you enter the house--"and a great spot to create assemblages of some of my favorite objects," says Neely, who changes the display every few weeks. Set atop a reversible Finn Juhl tray are ceramics from Heath and a Carl Auböck fruit knife with a cane-wrapped handle. Notes Neely:"I always keep a handful of tillandsia around--air plants soften and warm up the space."

The built-in niches were among the architect's takeaways from a visit to Corbero's residence outside of Barcelona. "You can see [the influence] throughout the store," Wannberg says. "There's a heavy feeling through the grey colorway but with a ceratin lightness in shapes and details." The shoes were created in collaboration with South African artist Esther Mahlangu.

Table landscapes were popular in the 18th and 19th centuries, and it’s this tradition that inspired Charlotte Talbot, a French designer who works in Konstantin Grcic’s Munich studio. She collaborated with Wiener Silber Manufactur, a silversmith established in Vienna in 1882, on a series of display pieces that juxtapose traditional silver with HI-MACS, an ultra-durable engineered surface.

Flying the flag for the American design scene, brands such as Lostine, Roll & Hill and the American Design Club have set up shop within East London design store, SCP. Called the Special Relationship, the show also celebrates the brand's new product launches by young American design talents Fort Standard, Bec Brittian and Mark McGinnis. Also be sure to check out the store's newly opened basement floor, which is entirely dedicated to design accessories.

Amuneal, a fabrication company from Philadelphia known for engineering major architectural installations, goes "ready to wear" with a new frame collection that will be sold at ABC Home. It's a talented crew: all the artwork seen here was created by Amuneal staff.

There are other dedicated displays, such as the Facebook Like counter called Fliike and the now-defunct Chumby, but the flexibility of options on the LaMetric give it the potential to be more than a smart light-up belt buckle.

The 9 by 3-inch display functions as a dedicated notification center that monitors and gives concise updates for stock quotes, the day’s weather, Twitter mentions, or your Gmail inbox count.

To set it up, you connect it to nearby Wi-Fi using the LaMetric app on your smartphone, and cycle through options to pick out what you want to have it say.

Coaxing the LaMetric to flex all of its muscles requires some know-how of RSS feeds and apps like If This Then That (IFTTT), but basic setup of email notification and appointment reminders is simple.

Display Cabinet Display is a showcase with character. The design is clean and classic with many choices. Different parts are available in various colours and materials which gives the possibility to create unique and personal cabinets.

Peridis turned a small room that wasn't quite big enough for a guest into a chair showcase, which includes the Chubby chair by Dirk Vander Kooij and the leaning 8.5 by Rasmus Baekkel Fex.

From French design brand L’ATELIER d’exercises, this Photo Display is a clever office accessory that can showcase family photos, treasured drawings, postcards, and more. Comprised of five transparent frames, the display allows one to present photos and artwork in a number of different ways. A thoughtful gift, the Photo Display makes it easy to showcase and swap out images.

If you have a phone, tablet, and laptop that all ring simultaneously when an email arrives, you know that too much information can be distracting, but used well, auxiliary notification sources like the LaMetric can be great. Waking up and seeing the weather without picking up your phone feels almost futuristic.

What piece in the shop is especially meaningful to you? The collection that everyone in our offices seems to be drawn to is an assortment of vintage ashtrays from venerated New York institutions—like 21, the Stork Club, and Peter Lugers, among others—each with a full set of matchbooks from the era. They are kept under lock and key, so they stay intact as an entire lot and don't innocently disappear in the night!
