Designed in 1936, the Lyngby Vase is one of the most emblematic pieces of Danish porcelain. The vase is so popular that very few original productions remain for sale—most are treasured heirlooms that are passed from generation to generation. The new production maintains the popularity of the original design, largely due to the care and thoughtful attention to the original model in the reproduction. When it premiered in the thirties, the Lyngby Vase was so different from classic porcelain, that it truly stood out and redefined the possibilities of the material. With its distinct shape and modern look, the vase was a sophisticated, new departure from tradition. The vase was reissued in 2011 as an extension of the Lyngby legacy.

3. Porcelain "Pablo" Vase by Jessica Hans“Jessica is a young, contemporary artists out of Philadelphia. We saw her work and wrote her a love letter, asking if she would consider having her work in our store; turns out she had already heard of our store and the love was mutual. We’re always impressed by her painterly glazes and use of color and texture. She also does pieces with unusual materials like gravel."

Designed in collaboration with legendary designer and longtime friend Eva Zeisel, KleinReid’s Eva collection is comprised of handmade porcelain vases in several sizes. Of her many accomplishments, one of Eva Zeisel's most noteworthy contributions to the design world was helping to bring the work of female artists to the forefront. Each vase features gentle curves that move from the slender, simple form of the petite bud vase to the more curvaceous, bulbous form of the large vase.

The iconic bud vase design gets a coat of a clay-like glaze that highlights the raw material while creating a lightness and texture reminiscent of the snow. "Warm earth tones, cool greys, and pops of rich turquoise make a well-rounded collection, evoking a cozy and frosty wintry day."

The Porcelain Vase from Edgewood Made is inspired by the process used to create it. The vase features a clear line around the vase, which occurs due to the two-part mold used during casting. The result is an embellished form that is at once simple and distinctive, and calls to the precise manufacturing process used.

HASAMI PORCELAIN MUG $16.00-$20.00

Hasami Porcelain is characterized by simple, clean lines and an aesthetic that is both highly modern and deeply seeded in Japanese pottery tradition. The company creates products on a fixed module, meaning that diameters are shared across the line, making them easy to be stacked and transported. The result of the stacking and interchangeability of the products is not only highly functional, but is also aesthetically pleasing— the even stacks provide a sense of calm and serenity to a cupboard of counter space. Crafted from Hasami’s custom blend of porcelain and clay, this mug is softer to the touch than traditional porcelain, ensuring a positive tactile experience when delivering a mug of coffee, or enjoying a cup of tea. With a lovely matte finish, this mug is beautiful enough to serve to a distinguished guest, and simple enough to use every day.

Known for creating pieces that blur the line between functional design and art, designers Andi Kovel and Justin Parker's Slump Vases for Esque are colorful, memorable, and just plain fun to use. The vases come in 12" ($348), 14" ($598), and 18" ($898) sizes, and a range of colors including blue, fuschia, and orange (we are partial to the orange—imagine it holding blooms of varying shades of orange and yellow, or, for contrast, filled with emerald green foliage like salal). Made to order, by hand, in Portland, Oregon.

"We don't have any specific rituals for entertaining, it changes each time depending on the party and the people. Music's always very important as a way to get people to relax and be in the moment. Of course there's always a good glass of wine, great food and flowers, and a few pieces of Dinosaur Designs to add color to the table,” says Ormandy.

Porcelain Sugar Bowl by Hasami

"I have more sugar bowls than I care to admit," Stubbs says. "I drink my tea and coffee with sugar, so I always want to have a sugar bowl out, right next to the kettle. This is a really nice departure from the old-fashioned sugar bowls that I’ve been using for years."
