Designed by Eric Magnussen for Stelton, the Vaccum Jug contains a interior glass vessel to efficiently insulate beverages for hours on end. It's remained in production since its launch in 1977, it has continued to be released in new colorways, including these metallic finishes in gold, silver, and copper.

These thermo cups are designed with function and practicality in mind. With an insulating interior, the thermo cup keeps hot beverages warm, while the outer layer stays cool to the touch. The lid, which keeps contents warmer longer, can also double as a saucer.

A washable filter means there’s no need to buy extra items over the vacuum’s lifespan.

The high price of a Dyson goes towards having the best aesthetics of any vacuum in the industry and the most powerful motors. However, those elements are beyond what’s necessary for most people in need of a portable vacuum for a small cleanup. Something like a Black & Decker 20V Max or Pivot Vac will have plenty of power to clean up animal hair and dust, so long as you have a dedicated upright for heavier cleaning jobs.

An exterior switch pops the bottom of the bin open to let out the debris. It holds 0.12 gallons, or just under 16 ounces, of waste.

EM77 Vacuum Jug designed by Erik Magnussen for Stelton, $149 at the Dwell Store The Danish brand's classic 1977 design receives an update with a stunning array of new metallic colorways, including copper, brass, and mirror. Equipped with a patented rocker stopper, it can keep beverages cool or warm for hours on end.

The structure is super-insulated, making use of quad-paned windows and vacuum-insulated panels.

In Kansas City, Missouri, a family sought to construct a new home using prefabricated structural insulated panels (SIPS) instead of traditional frame construction. The entire kit house is composed of 4' x 8' sections, and the shell was constructed in about a week. The project’s relatively low cost, quick build time, and highly insulated envelope were positives, but the panels also have their limitations. “Most SIP projects look pretty stupid,” Jamie says. “They haven’t been manipulated by someone who’s thinking creatively.” In this case, Jamie augmented the simple panel system with a dynamic cantilever.
