Inspired by LivingHomes’ RK2 model, this custom prefab-hybrid home in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, was made for actor Will Arnett by Plant Prefab.

Jennifer Siegal’s other house is the portable ShowHouse, a 720-square-foot example of her factory-built prefab housing, wedged in among the boutiques and coffee bars on trendy Abbott Kinney Boulevard in Venice. “I set it up so people would have a place to come and kick the tires,” Siegal jokes. “What does modern prefab feel like?”

This four-module LivingHome was installed in just four hours.

Dwell Outdoor held several full-size prefabs, including one from LivingHomes.

Bamboo flooring and Kirei board, which is made from the discarded stalks of sorghum plants, define the ShowHouse.

Plant Prefab was originally established in 2016 as an offshoot of LivingHomes, a design and development company that’s built dozens of award-winning prefabs—including actor Will Arnett's home.

The C6 is one of LivingHomes' most popular models. Coming in at 1,232 square feet, this LivingHome offers a comfortable living space for a relatively low cost.

Here, Plant Prefab partnered with LivingHomes, one of the top sustainable home design firms in the nation, on the LivingHome AD1, a versatile Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) designed to fit either in backyards, or as a main structure on an empty lot. The LivingHome AD1 was designed to be flexible and comes in various finish options.

Furnishings from Vitra, including Jean Prouvé and Verner Panton chairs and a Jasper Morrison side table help make the ShowHouse as stylish as it is sustainable.

This year's Reclaimed Space showhouse is currently being constructed in its Austin, Texas, factory.

The LivingHome 10 in Palm Springs showcases natural wood flooring and crisp white cabinetry.

OMD continually updates the ShowHouse with the latest eco-friendly materials, including nontoxic birch veneer Koskipanels and Durapalm flooring, which is a secondary product of coconut palms.

LivingHomes at Atwater Village is a part of a collection of six single-family homes located in the heart of L.A.'s Atwater Village.

Double-glazed sliding doors connect the living area with the covered outdoor deck in the LivingHome Piha. The bedrooms are tucked away in a separate two-story wing.

Wrapped in timber, the 1,016-square-foot Koto LivingHome 1 (Yksi) includes two bedrooms and a flex room on the first floor. The open-plan kitchen, dining, and living area is located on the floor above.

The 1,950-square-foot Koto LivingHome 2 (Piha) is organized around a central open-plan living space with a direct connection to the outdoors. The design is named after the two courtyards located on both sides of the home.

LivingHomes and Cavco also used zero VOC paints, which in combination with formaldehyde-free millwork, ensure zero emissions.

LivingHomes holds weekly, scheduled tours of this LivingHome in Santa Monica.

Showhouse Floor Plan

Like the RPA LivingHome 1, the RPA LivingHome 2 features a pitched roof for optimal solar collection.

The ShowHouse's kitchen is from Boffi.

Built to meet net-zero energy and LEED Platinum standards, all LivingHomes are equipped with ultra-efficient heating and cooling systems, all-electric Energy Star appliances, LEDs, low-flow water fixtures, and smart home technology. Timber and other natural materials are used wherever possible in place of concrete.

Intrigued by the "smart, simple things" being done with modular housing, Will Arnett tapped architect Suchi Reddy and prefab company LivingHomes to design a house that merges the best of on-site and factory construction. The "Arrested Development" and "LEGO Movie" actor’s new home, completed in 2017, faces down a verdant canyon in Beverly Hills.
