At the center of this design lies an exceptional view of West Seattle, with the main family room boasting direct access to the outside deck and the home’s sweeping view of Puget Sound. Open spaces and generous rooms make this craftsman-style home comfortable for any visitor.
Considering the needs of a client who is a gourmet chef, the kitchen acts as the home’s epicenter. With the construction of an island, the kitchen space enjoys the benefits of added flexibility. And by relinquishing walls between the family room, dining area, and kitchen, the three intertwine into one large, open area. In their place, furniture acts as the point of separation.
Additional private spaces, like the in-home office, were constructed away from the main area to emphasize a mood of seclusion and focus. Continuing the theme of abundant natural light, large windows line the office. Beyond the kitchen, a large point of design in this home was a shared space, suitable for a growing family. Individual children’s rooms were custom designed according to their respective tastes, and the incorporation of a Jack and Jill bathroom was designed with a gender-neutral palette.
