This home was a historic church built in 1860, and lovingly converted into a single family home.

The homeowner took great care to honor the church and preserve this historic landmark in the village of Zionsville, while also transforming it into a home that will endure the next 100 years. Her intentions have not been lost on the community who values it’s history – from our annual historic Ghost Walk to the 3rd grade curriculum - which includes Zionsville History lessons and a walking tour of the village. In this vein, there has been a high level of interest expressed from residents, as the church structure has sat vacant for quite some time – it’s previous use that most remember was an American Legion.

The transformation from church to home has been quite notable on the exterior, with the addition of a sunroom and separate garage/carriage house. On the interior, 3 levels of living space were created from the simple existing structure which sat on a crawlspace. The renovation work included restoring the 10 original windows and front entry door. The roof structural beams and floor joists original to the church were salvaged and repurposed them into decorative beams for the interior, shelves, a fireplace surround, and furniture. Thoughtful details appear often in the finishings.
